# Test resources and prompts

Use resource operations to read server data. Use prompt operations to retrieve
a named message template and supply its declared arguments. These operations
do not require an agent harness.

## Requirements

Use Python 3.10 or newer and initialize the project with `m3 init` and
`m3 setup`. Download the example
[`shipping_server.py`](https://github.com/sineframe/m3/blob/v0.2.16/sdk/examples/docs/servers-stdio/shipping_server.py)
and save it as `shipping_server.py` in the project root. It implements the
resource and prompt used below.

## Read a resource and render a prompt

Save this complete file as `tests/test_resources_prompts.py`:

From the project root, run:

m3 test -- tests/test_resources_prompts.py
```

The resource is selected by URI; the prompt is selected by name and receives
its required `order_id` argument. The example value is test input generated by
you, not an identifier that must exist on the server. See [test MCP
